Beautiful Day

It's warm and sunny in Georgia today. I was able to sit outside for awhile and enjoy some sunshine. My cat came out with me. I'm sure there will be more cold weather here. Soon, probably, but for today--enjoy!!

Changing The Look--Again!

Yes, here we are. Changing the look of the blog again! But there is something about this red color that I like. Maybe it's because red is the color I associate with love. Red is the color of the blood Jesus shed on the cross so God could show His ultimate love for us.
So to me, red is important.

This is the card my dh gave me for Valentine's Day. I love it! See how much red is on it?

When I think of summer I think yellow.
When I think of tears I think soft blue.

What about you? do Do you have a favorite color? Are there colors you always associate with certain things?

Now Introducing......

Our second longest running roommate is:
Jasper--(Quite the popular name now because of Twilight--although Jasper in Twilight is a little odd!)

We've had Jasper going on 13 years. He was dropped off at the pet store when hubby owned it. Jasper got along great with Shadow so we brought him home. He's my sweet, sweet kitty. He follows me everywhere, sits on my lap in the morning as I write. He sleeps with me every night. He purrs so loudly!!! He is a happy, lovable cat.
We can tell Japser misses Shadow. He's extra lovey-dovey since Shadow hasn't been here.
Jasper has taken to sleeping in my closet during the day. He climbs up on the highest rack and lays on my clothes. So if we ever can't find him we just look in the closet.

Any cat stories you'd like to share? Or just tell about your cat. We'd love to hear.

Check back tomorrow for the third in the brood.

Meet The Petersons

My hubby used to own a pet store. Before I met him the only pet I'd ever had was a cat. And I never had a pet when I lived on my own. There are just certain parts of pet ownership I can't handle.
So, when I my kids and I invaded Lenny's house many years ago we inherited quite a brood of characters. We had a dog, birds, goats, horses, and donkeys. Over the years we added and lost to the group. We raised a goat in the bathtub for a while because it was so cold outside. Sammy (the goat) grew up thinking he was a dog. We've had some fun times.
Last month we had to put Shadow to sleep. It was a very sad time for us. We miss her. I'm not sure if we'll get another dog. I'm leaving that up to my hubby. Whatever he decides will be okay by me.
But we did get a new addition to our household. Before I introduce you to him, (yes this addition is a boy) I thought I'd let everyone know who we already live with.
So this week I'm going to post each day our roommates (for lack of better terms). You can meet them one by one and at the end of the week I'll introduce to our new addition. (And let you know how they are all getting along!)

We are going in order of how long we've had these pets. The longest running Peterson Pet is Chiquita.

Chiquita is 18 years old was Lenny's before I met him. He raised her from a baby and she's quite the character. She has phrases and words she says quite often:
Here kitty, kitty.
What?
Uh huh.
Hello.
She also talks to herself in bird lingo with different voices and has quite a good time. She also screams when we leave the house. We cover our ears and run out the door. (I would say this is an exaggeration. It is for us but not our guests---sorry!)

Having a mccaw makes life interesting to say the least. I can't watch a you-tube video in the living room without getting her all riled up. She doesn't talk when people are around unless you're around a lot. She dumps her whole bowl of food out into the bottom of her cage.

Any bird stories out there? We'd love to hear.

Check back tomorrow for the second in our brood.

Jazzin January at F.A.I.T.H.

The Jazzin' Up January Contest is in full swing over at the F.A.I.T.H. blog. If you haven't checked it out, come on over. Add your paragraph to the mix and let's see where Katie Sue-Ann McCall is heading next week.

I Do Not Pay $400 For a Haircut, but.....

I do get a great cut. (Since I wouldn't tell my cuz how much I spend on a cut, she thinks I spend $400!))
I don't spend that kind of money but I do LOVE Erik!! (He's my hair dude!) He and his wife are friends of my step-daughter and her hubby. I was always commenting on how great Lisa's hair looked so she gave me a gift certificate for my birthday almost three years ago and I'm still going.
Here's the lastest style Erik did for me.

And yes I know I don't look like Katie Holmes, (sigh) but the cut is very cute. It's also very short!!! But I"m up for a change and some bangs for a while.

So, what about you? Every do a drastic change to your hair? Love it or hate it?

Hair stories are fun to share!!!

Excuses for why I didn't blog much in March and reasons why I plan to blog more in April

Okay.
So I didn't post too much in March. March was a crazy month. Totally crazy. Work, not being home, combined with Lenny being out of town and me having to judge two writing contests, left me with much too little time.
April however is going to be different. The work situation is getting better, we don't have NASCAR races and bowling tournaments to attend. Lenny will not be leaving town for work. I'm not judging any contests. In fact, I think I'll enter a couple.
I have to get back to the writing. This story is jumping around in my head...shoot, the next story is already creating scenes in my head. What is a writer to do with so much stuff and so little time?
Make the most of the time she/he has. I know I have a lot more than some people. I had a dream last night that I finished my book. I also dreamed that we almost missed the boat on our trip we are taking in June, but let's hope that doesn't come to pass. That part of the dream was very stressful.
Not that it might interest everyone, but maybe I'll make April my posting on my progress month. Keeps me accountable anyway. But I'll have to throw in some fun stuff so non-writers don't get bored.
April, here we come!!

Weather or not?

I've been living in Georgia since 1976. Seems like we used to have seasons, but maybe I was young and doing whatever and just didn't pay attention.
Now it seems like the heat of summer turns into the cold of winter which in turn turns into the heat of summer.
Only right now the heat of summer is happening in December. We are breaking records everyday this week. High 70's. Beautiful, sunny and dry. We need cold, rainy and wet. We are in a severe drought, our water restrictions are in place and there's no washing your car in your driveway, that's for sure.
They say that by this weekend on Sunday the low will be in the 20's and the high in the 40's. More like our normal weather in December.
But for the next couple of days, I'll be enjoying this burst of summer in December.
HOw about you? Where do you live and how's your weather treating you?

F.A.I.T.H. Thanks

We're giving thanks over at F.A.I.T.H. today. Come see what we're thankful for.

Rain and NASCAR

Ah! It's raining in Georgia. Not a whole lot, but the streets are wet, the ground is damp and I had to turn the windshield wipers on tonight and this morning.
Yeah!
We need the rain so badly! Of course it will start raining now. It's NASCAR weekend coming up and that just goes hand in hand with rain. I remember more than one year of hanging out all day just to go home because we were rained out.
What's amazaing to me is that south Georgia has has way too much rain and north Georgia is in a severe drought. Send some water our way folks!!
Oh, well, I'll report back about the race (or non-race) on Sunday.

Anyone know who this racer is?

Pizza

Okay, I'll admit it. This is a mindless, senseless, post. But it probably mirrors my mind right now. After months of being "on the go" I am finally home for months on end. Yes, until February I'm not leaving town. Even I am having a hard time believing it's true.
So, why is this post titled Pizza? Because I've eaten pizza for dinner last Saturday night, Sunday night, Monday night, Thursday night, Friday night and I'm eating left over pizza today for lunch.
Did I mention I LOVE pizza? I guess it's a good thing, huh?
I had Papa Johns, Stevie B's, Romano's, Digorno frozen pizza (I'm addicted) and Trevili's Pizza in Dawsonville, Georgia. Did I already say I LOVE pizza? Well, as much as I LOVE pizza, I"m probably going to be hating my scales in a couple of days. While pizza is great for the taste buds, it's way bad on the calories.
So, what's your favorite type of pizza? And what's your limit on how many times a week you would eat it?

Hot, Humid, Houston

I'm in Houston, Texas and boy is it hot and humid. The sun is shining and there isn't a dark cloud to be found. I'm here for work, but I had something very nice to look forward to.
Lenny's Aunt and Uncle live here. Actually 15 minutes from where I"m working and literally within walking distance of the hotel I was staying at. I took a "hotel" break tonight and spent the evening with them and their son whom I've never met before, but boy can he grill a fabulous steak.
Aunt Ruth made scalloped potatoes...salad...and homemade chocolate cake. Can you say I'm not eating for a week!!
It was a fabulous visit and if I have to come back here, I will be staying with Aunt and Uncle. They have a warm and lovely home and I enjoy their stories and visiting with them.
And maybe if I come back it will be a little cooler.
I hope!

Contest Winner and Word Count

Yeah to anonymous!(Wendy!) You are the winner of the word count contest.

I wrote 3015 words over Saturday and Sunday. Which brings my total manuscript up to 20031 words. 97 pages.
I'm going to continue to work a little longer tonight, hoping to cross the 100 page mark.
Thanks for tuning in Wendy!!! You know I love you.
There will be a dedication to you when I publish a book. I promise!
